Obama

Holly and I stayed up to watch the election results last night. We had big wins for our candidates in NC, but the national election is still too close to call for Obama or McCain. We did elect a democrat governor, senator, lt governor and maybe even Obama. I haven't looked yet to see if my progressive candidates won for Asheville too-some big zoning and planning issues coming up for Asheville with all the new growth to the area.

I got my first 2 doses of chemo yesterday as promised. I took all the anti-nausea meds they would give me, including the ativan. They made me sleepy in the day and it was grey and drizzly here so I napped in the afternoon. Why not? What a better way to pass the time while getting chemo.

My counts looked good yesterday-everything all worked back up to normal except the hemoglobin at 9.5. That one is always the last to hit normal, but it doesn't keep them from re-starting the chemo of course. It will be dropping within the next couple of days anyway.

I've already done my workout on the stepper here, and I'm waiting for Holly to arrive for her morning visit. If I get a Daypass like I should, she'll take me home or I'll call my friend Sandy, who works just across the street, to run me home. My stomach is a little queasy this morning after the chemo, but otherwise I feel pretty normal.

Exciting news from the election front all around. We have a completely democrate commissioner board! Hee Hee Hee Hee Hee
And, exciting news from your last round of chemo. Now your "get well gift" from the last round of chemo, which is sitting on my craft table STILL, will have to be a "final round of chemo" gift. Sorry about that. I will mail it Friday.
Work is loco. Had a guy come in with "vision change" yesterday who I diagnosed with a left temporal hemianopsia and sent him packing for a stat MRI who turned out to be having a crazy-big frontal lobe stroke. Two small bowel obstructions yesterday, as well. Loco, I tell ya.
Off to a hot bath to wash off the grime of administrative duties. Thinking of you a lot, a lot. Thanks for writing and keeping us informed.
Love ya, friend.

I drove to Carrboro for a latte early this election morning and encountered Obama jugglers at every block of 15-501. There were jugglers at every block of Carrboro too, which was oh so very cool. Standing in the rain and everything.

Yes. We.Can.

I bought one guy a cup of java since he was cold and planned to stand out there with his Obama sign the whole live-long all day. Hope he stayed dry.

It is so very cool that NC finally wentblue -- and what better time! I mean really. (Although I can't help but remember changing my residency way back when so that I could vote for Harvey Gantt.... even though I hadn't finished my thesis yet.)

Wahoo for the jugglers! Wahoo for Michelle. Wahoo for yes. we. can. And wahoo for your last, last last, last treatment. Here's to normalcy and normal bone marrow readings and normal days at Piedmont Health and a merciful end to treatment.

Can't wait to see you and catch up.
Love,
Angela

Yes I was happy to about the county commissiners and keeping my vote in Aville. and Gantt is now in too. I suspect that helps BCHC some too.

Next time I am there, let's get together. I miss your pithy humor.
